Remember how in the week-plus before No Kings 2 last October the Republican mouthpiece were blaring that we're anti-American draft-dodging (oops scrub that) anti-fa rapists and perverts (oops, no no!) who are terrorists living off daddy's money (um, not that one either)?
That was So Successful that they haven't said A Word this time!
Now, it's So Much Wasted Time that Trump might go nuclear early Saturday, just to catch the news cycle or something. Or he might bulldoze the rest of the White House?
Wahington stopped bashing the left over Nokings and the groups like Proud Boys went silent too. Nokings marches are no threat. Everything is moving faster, much to their glee and the regime's.
I did exactly that… started a chat with several protesters next to me and some actual connections and will hopefully see a couple of them at our next resistor group meeting!!!!👍
Many of us have been begging Reagan Democrat leadership to get out into the streets and incite the base to a national strike at the very least. I personally been doing that for four and a half decades. And I'm sorry but if they aren't making this about actual politicians from the left for the most part then they aren't succeeding. Occupy Wall Street made the same mistake.

Excellent video and message. I do think that mass protest does more than Kris mentions here. There’s a mass psychological effect - normalizing dissent and changing the perception of power in the face of a regime which claims more power than it has. But that is nowhere near enough, just one tactic in a larger effort. Anyone credible who is organizing knows this. Fascism falls by 1000 cuts. I’m still glad to have anyone show up and wave a sign regardless of what they do beyond, but we must engage them and invite them to the next community event, AF book club, etc. to build strength.
I agree! It normalizes dissent and that some is really wrong here. It also gets it into people's faces who are truly ignorant and/or want to be. But unfortunately it's not enough to just show up for protests like what was in the post.

Thank you. Those who defend the structure of Nokings never ever gave a thought about protest in there privileged life, much less opened a book that detailed how those who came before did it. There was no internet or phones. Personally, I think Hands Off would have been different until hijacked by Indivisible, a nonprofit run by 2 people whose 501 charity subclass guidelines lines up perfectly with Nokings to remain tax-exempt but I forget if the donations are tax deductible or not under their filing.
I'm not jumping on a bandwagon until I know what they are playing, if it is my kind of music and if they are going where I'm trying to get. So Nokings was a no after research and the 2 prior didn't even slow the Trump train down and gone full out war mode with an incompetent DOD leader with never a full out protest for removal. Neither the buffoon in the WH for that matter.
You are stating a conclusion without evidence. You don’t know people’s motivations and you can’t assume that they are only going to protest and not follow up. Why not support people who are doing something positive, something fully in the American tradition? How about we focus on all of the nasty shit that the Republicans are doing and stop with the circular firing squad?
On top of all this, we should also be using the no kings rally as the start date of an economic blackout. everyone who goes should be out again on sunday, Doing the same thing out on monday and tuesday and next week, and the week after. this needs to be sustained. the only way these people are going to care or even notice or have any sort of "oh shit" moment, is when we take their god the dollar from them.

yes, you can invite your neighbor or friend who otherwise might be intimidated. when they enjoy the fun and camaraderie, it can change one person at a time. that’s where we always have to keep growing.

I can appreciate what you have said about community and having a plan but I think you should be ashamed of yourself for telling people not to waste their time going to a No Kings protest and discouraging them from doing so. Did you know that nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change? Nonviolent campaigns are twice as likely to achieve their goals as violent campaigns. And although the exact dynamics will depend on many factors, it’s been shown that it takes around 3.5% of the population actively participating in the protests to ensure serious political change.
